WHAT IS GATE 28 IN HUMAN DESIGN?

Gate 28 in Human Design is called the gate of ‘the Game player’ or struggle in some instances - which is the awareness of what’s worth struggling for (or not) in the now.

Gate 28 sits in the Spleen center, the center that holds our intuition and our instincts for survival and well-being.

Gate 28 is all about the conscious struggle (choice) to find meaning and purpose in life. That means there’s an encoded potential in 28 to either experience an existential crisis Or to fully experience alignment to your purpose - having have found what makes life truly worth living.

Like all splenic gates Gate 28 has a survival/primal fear attached to it, which is the fear of purpose (-lessness), imagining that life might end before you know what makes it worth living, or what gives it meaning.

To flip this around and move past this fear, you tap into the splenic spontaneity to actually experience the thrill of being alive!

Interesting fact: This constant search for purpose may lead to “purpose anxiety”, a rather newer term from a recent study , which suggests that everyone has experienced it at some point in life. (gate 28 or not)

It doesn’t suggest, however, that we shouldn’t look for purpose in life because the benefits of living a meaningful life far outweigh the impact of this anxiety - but rather suggests we focus on “creating our purpose” than waiting to discover it.

Gate 28 connects to the Root center via Gate 38 of the Fighter, forming the channel of Struggle 28-38. This is the design of persevering through challenges, mostly existential, and provides the fuel for you to reach any goal you’ve deemed meaningful, with power and perseverance.

…which is a function of the fear of death. The fear of death is directly correlated to the purpose of one's life.

If you are to find your purpose and release your creativity into the world, you must face your dark side, in other words, your fear of death.

This shadow may manifest as either feeling hollow inside as a result of turning away from your deeper fears..

Or, it can manifest as living by extreme risk-taking in order to mask the lack of sense of purpose.

The way out is in finding meaning in the now and embracing the joy of being alive.

Totality means to live alongside fear and to stay open to continual change while remaining committed.

This gift means to embrace the totality of pleasure and the whole of pain and to live without the mind dictating your life.
